Skiing in Val d'Isère: unforgettable ski holidays in the heart of the most beautiful landscapes of the French Alps

This internationally renowned French ski resort is located at an altitude of 1850 m in the heart of Savoie, in the Vanoise National Park in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Known for its high standard of services, the resort has a range of accommodation and facilities to meet the most specific and demanding requirements. Its location is ideal: on the border with Italy and next to the world's largest winter sports resorts. Over the last few decades, Val-d'Isère has become an unmissable ski area for any skier, amateur or professional.

The resort attracts skiers from all over the world for the exceptional quality of its services and its majestic alpine landscapes. The snow conditions and the size of the Val d'Isère ski area make it one of the world's top destinations for skiing (300 km of slopes known as "L'Espace Killy”, shared with the Tignes resort, and 82 ski lifts).

Ski holidays in Val d'Isère: come and discover the most beautiful backcountry ski routes in the world!

Its area, pistes and backcountry combined, totals over 17,500 hectares (68 square miles) and many wilderness areas await you. Its highest point at 3456 m allows for a spectacular vertical descent of around 2000 m. The excellence of the backcountry areas and the quality of the powder snow have made it one of the most popular destinations for freeriding enthusiasts

From your guest room or hotel, you can either set off directly in ski skins for fully natural ascents or, from the top of the ski lifts, reach the backcountry ski routes more quickly by gravity in higher altitude areas, such as Tour du Charvet or La Banane from the Bellevarde sector.

Tour du Charvet is THE classic backcountry itinerary in Val d'Isère. There are numerous options for descents thanks to its many variants. It is accessible to everyone, even backcountry beginners. Its gentle slopes and undulating hillsides will take you right into the heart of the Vanoise National Park. A guaranteed change of scenery and breathtaking landscapes!

The Banana lives up to its name. On a day of heavy powder snow, after 800 m of descent in the axis and several dozen turns on a sustained slope, the lucky ones who have drawn these lines generally see it right in front of them, the Banana!

We can also organise heli-ski trips to the even higher altitudes around the Tarentaise. After the drop off, you can enjoy untracked powder descents in stunning mountain panoramas before returning to the village.

If you so wish, we can offer you full-day outings, providing a picnic lunch. However, in case you want to take a break in one of the resort's restaurants, or even in a restaurant at altitude, closer to the slopes, we generally offer half-day itineraries, which are just as amazing.
