Welcome to PowderWeGo. We design off-piste ski holidays and ski them with you: ski touring in Lofoten, ski and sail in Greenland, heli ski touring in Iceland, the powder of Hokkaido, or a luxury ski stay in Val d’Isère, Zermatt or Lech. You travel in a small group with BEES-qualified ski instructors specialising in off-piste, and/or UIAGM mountain guides, and we provide the avalanche airbag pack, transceiver, shovel and probe.
Depending on the trip, it is your skins, the boat, the helicopter or the lifts that take you to the powder, and every day of off-piste skiing is spent in a small group. Every date and destination is in our catalogue of backcountry ski trips.

The lifts or a climb on skins take you up, and your guide leads you away from the marked pistes into the day’s powder: in Hokkaido, Jackson Hole, Whistler, Val d’Isère, the Dolomites, the Tyrol and around Mont Blanc.

The climb on skins at the group’s pace, then a run through the day’s snow: in Lofoten, in the Tyrol, in the Dolomites or in Furano, in the heart of Hokkaido.

The boat anchors at the foot of the mountain, you skin up from the shore, and the run brings you back down to the sea: in Greenland, in Svalbard, in the Lyngen and Bodø Alps, and as far as Antarctica.

From Ridder, in the Altai mountains of Kazakhstan, a snowcat carries you up each morning above the birch and larch forests, and you ski the cold, light powder of December, run after run.

A drop at the top of the slope, then powder all the way down. Our heli skiing trips run over a weekend or a week in Sestriere, a week in the Kaçkar, in Chile or in the Annapurnas, and in Iceland as heli-assisted ski touring.

From mid-January to early February the snow falls light and plentiful on Hokkaido: you ski in Niseko facing Mount Yotei, then around Otaru and Furano, and the day ends in the hot water of an onsen. For the practical side of the journey, the Japan National Tourism Organization is a good place to start.

From Val d’Isère to the fjords of Norway and the volcanoes of Hokkaido, every trip begins with the same wish: to take you where the snow is at its finest when you travel, in a small group, with ski instructors and UIAGM mountain guides we know well.

Our trips are organised and sold by Aéreau Voyages, a travel agency based in Samoëns, which is responsible for them under the French Tourism Code; PowderWeGo designs them and guides them on the ground. Prices are per person, based on two people sharing a room or a cabin, and a deposit confirms your booking; the amount is given for each trip.
Insurance covering medical costs, mountain search and rescue, repatriation and personal liability is required, and cancellation insurance is strongly recommended; passports and visas are for each traveller to arrange. On the mountain, your instructor or guide adapts the day’s programme to the snow, the weather, the avalanche risk and the group’s form and level. The details are in our general terms of sale.
In the Altai, in Kazakhstan, you go cat skiing from early to mid-December. From mid-January to early February, Hokkaido’s snow falls light and plentiful, and you ski in Niseko facing Mount Yotei: our article on the best time to ski Hokkaido takes you through those weeks.
In March, you ski all the way down to the sea in Lofoten and the Lyngen Alps; in May in Iceland, in April and May in Greenland; in March and April, heli skiing in the Annapurnas; in late May, in Svalbard, under the midnight sun. In July and August, it is the southern winter in the Chilean Andes. In the Alps and North America, we set the dates with you: in the Tyrol from November to May, in Val d’Isère from late November to early May, in Whistler from 15 December and in Jackson Hole from December to April.
After skiing
The trip carries on into the evening. In Hokkaido you sleep in a ryokan and the day ends in the hot water of an onsen; in Lofoten, a sauna warms you up before dinner in Svolvær.
In Iceland, our lodge on the fjord, near Dalvík, has its own sauna, a hot tub and a chef who cooks local produce; on board, in Greenland and Svalbard alike, everyone gathers round the same table while the boat heads for its next anchorage. Elsewhere it might be a Turkish bath in the Kaçkar, or the pool in Pokhara on the way back from the Himalayas. From Italian wines to Tyrolean songs, every destination has its people and its table, and they are part of the reason we go.

Wherever you ski with us, your instructor or guide chooses the route each morning for the snow and the weather, and sets the pace to suit your group. Tell us where and when you would like to ski, and we’ll reply within 24 hours.
PowderWeGo designs the trips and guides them on the ground; bookings go through Aéreau Voyages, which organises and sells them. We are based in Val d’Isère, and our founder, Boris Malesset, has been an off-piste ski professional since 2001. Our 19 adventure ski trips range from Japan to Antarctica, and you ski in a small group with a BEES-qualified ski instructor specialising in off-piste, and/or a UIAGM mountain guide. Off-piste means skiing beyond the marked and patrolled pistes, in natural, ungroomed snow. On most of our off-piste ski holidays, you need a technical level of 3/5, which means being at ease off-piste in deep snow; for the stay in Val d’Isère, 2/5 is enough. For fitness, allow 2/5 where the lifts, the snowcat or the helicopter do most of the climbing, in Japan, Kazakhstan, Sestriere, Whistler or Jackson Hole, and 3/5 for ski touring in Lofoten, in Iceland and on our ski and sail trips. Yes, on every one of our trips: we provide the avalanche airbag pack, transceiver, shovel and probe, and your guide decides on each slope in the light of the snowpack and the weather. Yes: you can join one of our scheduled departures, and most of our trips can also be arranged privately for a group of your own, on other dates. A single room can be requested when you book, depending on the accommodation.
Yes, in July and August, in the Chilean Andes, in the middle of the southern winter: six days of heli skiing around the San José volcano, from Santiago. The rest of the catalogue runs from November to late May, and our Antarctic voyages sail in November and December, with exact dates on request.
