These programmes may vary at the mountain guide’s discretion, depending on weather conditions, the group’s ability or preferences, or for any other reasons he deems appropriate or necessary.

Here is an example of a daily itinerary for a seven-day ski touring and freeride trip in the Jackson Hole region, Wyoming:

Day 1: Arrival in Jackson Hole in the late afternoon. After meeting you at Jackson Hole Airport (JAC), our guides will accompany you to your lodge. There, you can settle into your accommodation and, if required, arrange equipment hire. 

The very next morning, you can begin your stay with a day’s skiing off-piste. Take this opportunity to get used to the skiing conditions in the region.


Day 2:  First day in deep snow with one of our experienced guides. After a briefing on safety when skiing off-piste, your guide will first take you on easy routes to get you up to speed. You will then gradually move on to more remote and wilder routes in the mountains to offer you a unique skiing experience. They will also give you tips on how to improve your technique in deep snow.


Day 3: Freerando day, a mix of freeride descents and short ascents using climbing skins, about an hour’s climb. Your guide will lead you through the surrounding mountains, using ski touring routes to reach remote areas. You can enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains whilst building up your physical endurance.

Day 4: Ski touring day using climbing skins. You’ll explore new areas in the mountains with your guide, depending on your preferences and skiing ability. You can also focus on more advanced skiing techniques, such as skiing in deep snow.

Day 5: Freeride/ski touring day with climbing skins. Your guide will take you off the beaten track and use the lifts to reach off-piste areas before you enjoy incredible descents on skis. You can also work on more advanced downhill techniques.

Day 6: Third day in deep snow. You’ll explore another area of the mountain with your guide, depending on your preferences and skiing ability. You’ll be able to enjoy spectacular views of the mountains and the surrounding region.

 

Day 7: Morning in the deep snow at Cody Peak. This part of the mountain offers technical and steep runs for experienced skiers. You can also enjoy incredible views of the surrounding mountains. Afterwards, we’ll take you to the airport, where you can catch your return flight.

Outside of your skiing days, you can also enjoy other winter activities in the Jackson Hole region. You can relax at a local spa to soothe your aching muscles after a day’s skiing.

 

It is important to remember that off-piste skiing and backcountry skiing are dangerous activities that must be undertaken with caution. It is essential to have an experienced guide by your side to ensure your safety throughout your stay. You must also ensure you have the necessary safety equipment, such as an avalanche transceiver (AT), a shovel and a probe, as well as an ABS or Reactor airbag backpack. 

With these precautions in place, you can safely enjoy the incredible experience of off-piste skiing and freeride skiing in the Jackson Hole region to the full.

 

It is also important to note that weather conditions may affect your skiing itinerary. In the event of bad weather, your guide may adjust the route to ensure your safety and comfort. Stay in regular contact with your guide to receive the latest information on snow conditions and weather forecasts.
