The Lofoten Islands: The best ski touring spots between sea and mountains
The Lofoten Islands archipelago is located in northwestern Norway . It stretches from the mainland into the Arctic Ocean, covering an area of approximately 1,200 km². The highest peak is Hivravstinden , which reaches 1,146 m. The landscapes are quite typical: steep mountains and Arctic fjords plunge directly into secluded bays sheltering narrow coastal strips where roads and villages cluster.
Throughout this ski trip, you'll be accommodated in a comfortable three-star hotel, in rorbuer, the colorful fishermen's cabins characteristic of the Lofoten Islands. In response to the growth of tourism, these traditional dwellings have been renovated with modern comforts. After your days of ski touring in the heart of the majestic fjords, all you'll have to do is admire the exceptional spectacle of sunset and the Northern Lights, accompanied by the songs of the whales. An unforgettable, simply magical trip!
This ski touring trip in the Lofoten Islands is open to intermediate to expert off-piste skiers in good physical condition. It is organized around daily ski tours. These begin at the coastline and lead you, without major difficulties, on ascents of 3 to 5 hours of walking per day and descents of 600 meters to 1 kilometer on average.
Once on the ridges, where the views are breathtaking, we can ski back down off-piste , either through challenging couloirs or gentler slopes.
sheltering forests, all the way to the seaside. The routes are
chosen each morning according to the weather, the level of sea ice, the snow conditions and your desires.
We have a private minibus at our disposal for the duration of the trip. This allows us the freedom to decide the starting and ending points of our itineraries. The main islands of the archipelago are all connected by a network of bridges and tunnels. Optionally, and depending on conditions, we can organize one or more days of ski touring on more isolated islands, accessible only by boat, such as Stormolla and Litlmolla .

After your day of off-piste skiing , you can relax in the warmth of a sauna before dining at the hotel or elsewhere. This will be the perfect way to end your evenings in the most charming remote villages, such as Svolvær, Henningsvær, or Reine .
