Heliskiing in Türkiye: discover the beauty of the Lesser Caucasus
The Kaçkar Mountains are located in northeastern Turkey, in Anatolia, within the Pontic Alps. They stretch along the Black Sea coast into Georgia, covering approximately 500 km from east to west and 60 km in width. Their highest point is Kaçkar Dağı, which reaches 3,942 m. The proximity of the Black Sea creates a climate conducive to abundant snowfall, and the humidity ensures good snowpack stability. These relatively untouched natural areas are ideal for heli-skiing and off-piste skiing – a true wonder of the world and a destination waiting to be discovered!
The helicopter departure and arrival base is located in Ayder, a traditional village in the Firtina Valley, situated at an altitude of 1,100 meters and a 3-hour drive from Trabzon. Heli-skiing professionals agree on its excellent reputation for safety, maintenance, and organization. The helicopters (Squirrel B2 and B3) are piloted by an experienced and qualified team of Swiss origin with whom we regularly work.
During your ski holiday in Turkey , you'll have the chance to discover a ski area spanning over 5,000 km². The sectors are incredibly diverse, the routes endless, and the scenery always breathtaking. You'll be skiing far from the crowded slopes and resorts. Runs are generally located between 1,200 and 3,600 meters in altitude, with average vertical drops of 700 to 1,200 meters. Most are in open terrain, though some may continue or finish in the forest. Helicopter pick-up is in front of the hotel, and the nearest drop-off points are just a few minutes' flight away.
After a day on the slopes, you can choose to relax in a traditional Turkish bath or in the comfort of the newly renovated Hotel d'Ayder. It now offers comfortable double rooms and suites with a sitting area and fireplace. A gym, sauna, and hot tub are also available. Finally, dinner will be an opportunity to discover local specialties in a very convivial atmosphere.
